A teen was suspended from school after wearing a fake bomb to ask a girl to prom

Probably not the wisest idea.

A US HIGH school student has gotten himself into a real spot of bother after wearing a fake bomb to ask a girl to prom.

Ibrahim Ahmad of  La Center, Washington strapped a fake bomb to his waist and held up a sign that said: “I’m kinda the bomb! Will u be my date to prom?”

The girl said yes, but the staff were freaked out and slapped Ahmad with a five-day suspension.

He told The Columbian newspaper that he thought the fake bomb, which was made of an old paintball vest and red paper tubes, “looked corny”:

I’m Middle Eastern, and I thought the bomb was kind of funny and clever. I wasn’t wearing the vest for more than, like, 20 seconds. I asked her, took a picture, took it off, and then the school got upset.

Ahmad said that some teachers had even wished him luck before he went to ask, and video footage shows no students were alarmed by the stunt.

Nevertheless, a spokesperson for the school said they were holding firm on the decision to suspend him:

Given all that is going on in the world today, even simulated weapons/devices can undermine our collective efforts to create a safe school and therefore are handled appropriate disciplinary actions.
